For nearly 40 years the Barrel Futurities of America has been the solid and unwavering backbone to our barrel racing futurity industry. As a membership driven organization, there are no outside owners or businesses/companies to rely on. We, the barrel racing community alone are responsible for its longevity and its continued success. In my 40 + years in the barrel futurity industry I have seen many new faces/organizations come and go and the BFA is the ONLY association to not only survive but also thrive because the futurity horse and its connections (owner, breeder, trainer, rider etc.) are literally the heart (and controlling body) of the association. In honor and respect for the continuing loyalty and security provided by the BFA to American futurity barrel racers, we are announcing that our 5th annual Jacky Martin Memorial futurity at the LGI will be BFA APPROVED ! The futurity for horses 4 & under will feature two go rounds and an average with $15,000 added to the purse. We would like to honor the foresight, passion and work begun so many years ago by futurity pioneers Mrs Florence Youree and Mrs Pat Hutter. Because you can’t go forward without understanding and respecting where you came from!
